This dancer is a bit of a rogue, full of momentum and changing directions. I enjoyed playing with straight lines that feel like curves in this pieces, and kept the watercolor background spare to let the sparks from the figure fly. All the white in the image comes form the paper itself adding to the freshness and spontaneity of the composition.

This original artwork is matted and framed and ready to hang.

The Process of Sensing

Look closely in this artwork and you will notice glinting crystals in the yellow section of ground. These are salt flecks and I used them to create a unique texture and play with the opacity of the watercolor pigments there. The figure was so juicy, I wanted to put him somewhere warm and dry.
