Oil pastel on paper, 2023
I wanted to loosen up my drawing and turned to oil pastels for their invitation to play. (I think of them as “grown up crayons.” Don’t you?) Working with them is swift and intuitive, but I still get to have that incomparable color saturation and chunky texture. This was my first attempt, and the strokes and forms swept onto the paper in a single sitting. Sometimes art-making is truly magic that way.
